The Colorado College men's tennis team nearly pulled off its second upset of the 2018 SCAC Championships Sunday but suffered a 5-4 loss to Austin College in the third-place match at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs.

The fifth-seeded Tigers, who defeated the fourth-seed Schreiner in the quarterfinals on Friday, couldn't complete the comeback on Sunday after losing two of the three doubles matches. Senior

Christian Kitchen won the No. 2 match, 8-6, over Eric Meendsen and Josh Granberry.

Austin's Calum Robe won the No. 4 match, 6-2, 6-2, over sophomore
Logan Pepperl to give the third-seeded 'Roos a 3-1 lead, but sophomore
Noah Forman rallied to beat Kenneth Hardy, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2, at the top spot and Chen won the final match of his career, 6-3, 6-4, over Meendsen at No. 6 to even the team match at 3-all.

After Austin won at the No. 5 spot, freshman
Sam Hum gutted out a 7-6(6), 6-2 victory over Granberry and the match came down to the No. 3 tilt. Andres Padilla of Austin won the first set, 7-5, against freshman
Alex Kley, but Kley took the second set, 6-4. Padilla raced out to a 5-0 lead in the third and hung on to win, 6-2, and clinch the team match.
