Box Score Will Mallory and
Griffin Meyer scored in the first half, and
Keleher Felton made a career-high 10 saves to lead the Colorado College men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over the University of Dallas on Sunday in Irving, Texas.
Â
Mallory put the Tigers on the board in the 25th minute off a feed from
Kiran Singh, who scored the game's only goal in CC's 1-0 victory over Austin College on Friday. Mallory collected the pass and cleanly beat Dallas goalkeeper Caleb Strange.
With his third goal of the season, Mallory became the fifth Tiger to record double-digit points this year.
Â
Meyer gave Colorado College a 2-0 lead on his first career penalty kick in the 31st minute. It was his team-leading seventh goal of the campaign.
Â
Felton made the goals stand up as he saved four shots in the first half before Dallas' Carlos Trevino broke through with an unassisted goal with less than two minutes remaining in the opening frame. The sophomore keeper was solid in the second half, saving all six shots on goal by the Crusaders.
Â
The Tigers, winners of four consecutive games, improved to 10-5 overall and 5-1 in the SCAC.
Palguta's Perspective
"We are pleased to be returning to Colorado with two big conference wins," head coach
Scott Palguta said. "We needed to be tough and gritty and we were. As a staff, we're proud of the way the guys managed our leads in both games. We continue to get goals from all over the field which is great to see.
"Today, Kel Felton turned in a 'Man of the Match' performance in goal. We created plenty of good scoring chances today, but Dallas had a few of their own and Kel stood tall. He's made wonderful progress with his playing time the past few weeks."
