Box Score The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team defeated Colorado College, 3-1, to capture the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title Sunday afternoon in San Antonio, Texas.
 
With the victory, TLU receives the SCAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Soccer Championship. Colorado College, which won its first-ever SCAC regular-season title this season, will find out on Monday, Nov. 11, if it advances to its first Division III tournament since 2012. The selection show is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. (MT).
 
After a scoreless first half in which each team recorded just one shot on goal, TLU's Cameron Townes scored less than five minutes into the second half. A corner kick floated to the far side of the box and Townes volleyed a shot to the upper part of the net past CC goalie Keller Mochel.
 
The Bulldogs extended the lead in the 60^th minute when Nicolas Medina split the Tiger defense and put a shot on the ground past Mochel. Luis Green made it 3-0 in the 77^th minute.
 
Freshman Griffin Meyer connected on a penalty kick for his team-leading 11^th goal of the season in the 82^nd minute, but the Tigers mustered just one shot the rest of the game on TLU goalie Caleb Weed, who finished the game with four saves.
 
Meyer's 11 goals this season are the most by a Tiger since Brandon Ogilvie had the same amount in 2014 and the most by a freshman since Matt Fechter's 11 in 2009.
