Black, Tigers Rise Above Cal Lutheran

Senior forward CooXooEii Black scored 17 of his game-high 20 points in the second half as the Colorado College men's basketball team pulled away for a convincing 77-54 victory over California Lutheran University on Saturday night at Reid Arena.

Black connected on seven of 11 field-goal attempts, including his first three-pointer of the season during a pivotal outburst early in the second half.

After the Kingsmen cut CC's 12-point halftime lead to 32-26, Black scored eight consecutive points to stretch the Tigers' advantage back to 14.

Colorado College extended its lead to 46-26 when DeAnte' Dennis scored with 13:06 to play, and CLU never got closer than 15 points the rest of the way.

Junior guard JJ Woods connected on four of five shots from behind the arc and finished with a career-high 13 points.

The Kingsmen led by as many as four during the opening minutes and took a 16-15 lead after Logan McCullough drained a three pointer with 8:50 to play before the break.

The Tigers began to seize control of the game on the strength of an 11-0 run that was capped by a three-pointer from Woods.

Charlie Rounaghi dished out a career-high eight assists.
Eric Jonas scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Jack McRoskey also produced 11 points and six boards. 
 
Cal Lutheran Standouts
Carlton Brown led the Kingsman with 12 points.
Palmer Chaplin scored 10 points and dished out three assists.
Connor Cole grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Next for the Tigers
Colorado College visits Division II Metropolitan State University on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
The Tigers play host to the 2019 Rocky Mountain Thanksgiving Classic on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29-30, at Reid Arena. The Tigers face Sul Ross State University at 7:30 p.m. Friday, then close out the tournament against Whitman College on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
