The Colorado College men's tennis team could not rally after falling behind 2-1 after the doubles matches and lost to Schreiner University, 5-4, Friday afternoon in the first round of the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in Sherman, Texas.

Jacob Adas, the Tigers trailed 2-1 after the doubles matches. Kitchen and Adas defeated Matthew Jimenez and Joshua Newman, 8-4, while Schreiner's No. 1 team of Luis Cabreja and Andrew Albright downed senior

Noah Forman, 8-3. The Mountaineers took the lead when Austin Cervantes and Juan Ortiz beat sophomore

Forman and Adas each won his singles match in three sets, with Forman defeating Cabreja, 6-2, 4-6, 6-0, at No. 1, and Adas downing Jiminez, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, at No. 3. Kley posted the other victory for the Tigers with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Ortiz at No. 5.

Albright handled Kitchen, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 4 spot, while Mario Gallinar beat Wimer, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 6, then Newman clichéd the match for Schreiner with a thrilling, 6-1, 4-6, 7-6(5) decision over Holland at No. 2.

The Tigers (5-12) will face off against either Texas Lutheran or Centenary in the fifth-place match on Saturday, April 20, at 2 p.m. (CT).
