Illinois Hands Tigers 2-0 Setback

The Colorado College women's soccer team battled the University of Illinois to a statistical draw on Sunday afternoon, but a pair of first-half goals from Makena Silber gave the Illini a 2-0 victory in the first-ever game at Demirjian Park.

The Tigers trailed for the first time all season when Silber struck for the first time late in the 20th minute off a feed from Kelly Maday.

Unfazed by falling behind, CC launched three shots during a span of three minutes, including two from Lucia Costanza and Kiley Suter which made it through to Illinois goalkeeper Jaelyn Cunningham.

Silber scored her second of the game at the 24:49 mark after taking a touch from Hope Breslin.
 
Colorado College Standouts
Sophomore forward Kiley Suter led the Tigers with four shots, two of which were on frame.
Senior forward Lucia Costanza put one of her two shots on target.
First-year goalkeeper Abby Opperman finished with three saves.
 
Illinois Standouts
Silber launched a match-high six shots, three of which were on frame.
Jaelyn Cunningham finished with four saves.
 
Notes
The Tigers had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Illini finished with a 15-13 edge in total shots.
CC slipped to 4-1-0.
Illinois improved to 6-1-0.

Next for the Tigers
Colorado College plays its final non-conference game of the season next Sunday when the Tigers play host to Southern Illinois University.
