After posting a career-high 42 saves in a 2-1 upset victory over No. 8 Minnesota Duluth Thursday night,
Dominic Basse was named the NCHC Rookie of the Week.
Basse, a Chicago Blackhawks draft pick, swept away 17 of his 42 saves in the first period Thursday and helped kill all three UMD power plays to complete a season sweep of the Bulldogs. Two days later, Basse made 22 more saves in a 4-0 loss at then-No. 6/7 St. Cloud State Saturday, allowing three goals with the last an empty-netter.
Basse ended the weekend 1-1-0 with a .941 save percentage and a 2.01 goals-against average, compiling 64 saves on 68 shots, with the 64 saves the most in the NCHC last weekend. The Alexandria, Va., product upped his season save percentage to an even .900 and lowered his goals-against average to 2.99.
The Tigers play the first of four straight games against Denver to close the regular season on Thursday, Feb. 25 at the Broadmoor World Arena, beginning at 7 p.m.
