2022 HOME SCHEDULE BEGINS FRIDAY
The Colorado College women's soccer team opens its home slate with a pair of games this weekend at Stewart Field. The Tigers host Bucknell University on Friday, Aug. 26, at 5 p.m., and Army on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 2 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Tigers split a pair of matches on the road last week to open the 2022 campaign. The season opened with a 2-1 victory over UC Santa Barbara on Aug. 18.
Adelaide Gaffney scored the first two goals of her career, both in the first 14 minutes, and
Ally Wakeman finished with two saves. After the Gauchos cut the lead to 2-1 in the 17th minute, the Tigers allowed just two shots on goal the remainder of the game. Four days later, Utah Valley downed the Tigers, 2-0, despite a career-high nine saves by Wakeman.

HOME OPENERS
Colorado College owns a 25-10-2 in home openers. In their first game at Stewart Field last season, the Tigers fell to Cal Poly, 2-1.
THE KERI SANCHEZ ERA BEGINS
Keri Sanchez was named the eighth head coach in the history of the school's Division I women's soccer program in December of 2021. Sanchez, who won four NCAA National Championships as a player at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, brings 25 years of coaching experience that spans Division I and Division III. During her standout professional career, Sanchez played at the highest level. She notched 13 caps with the United States Women's National Team and played in the first-ever World Cup qualifying tournament in 1991.
WINNING ALTITUDE
Regardless of whether Colorado College plays on Stewart Field or Washburn Field, the Tigers have enjoyed a significant advantage when playing at an elevation of 6,035 feet. Entering this weekend's games, CC is now 267-67-32 (.773) in 366 all-time matches on its own campus.
FOR THE RECORD
Colorado College is 1-1 after splitting a pair of games to open the season last week. Bucknell is 1-0 after defeating St. Francis last weekend, while Army is 1-0-1. The Black Knights defeated Fairleigh Dickinson, 2-0, and tied UConn, 1-1, last weekend. Army plays at Air Force on Friday.
ALL-TIME SERIES vs. OPPONENTS
Colorado College and Bucknell will play for just the second time, with CC wiinning, 5-0, during the 2006 season. Meanwhile, the Tigers are 2-0 vs. Army, with victories in 2008 (3-0) and 2017 (2-0)
A LOOK AT THE TIGERS
Gaffney is tied for third in the Mountain West with two goals and one goal per game. Wakeman leads the conference with 11 saves and is fourth with a .786 saves percentage.
EIGHT NEWCOMERS JOIN THE SQUAD
Joining the 16 returners for the 2022 campaign are one transfer and seven freshmen.

Haley Williams comprise the Class of 2026.
SUDDEN IMPACT
Seven of the eight newcomers appeared in both matches last week.
Haley Williams started in her first career game at UC Santa Barbara and assisted on Gaffney's first goal. She leads the newcomers with 103 minutes played. Evie Biiggs is next with 82 minutes, while
Shalom Prince and
Kylie Smith each attempted a shot.
MOUNTAIN WEST PRESEASON POLL
The Tigers were picked 11th out of 12 teams in the Mountain West preseason poll as voted on by the league's 12 head coaches.
