Colorado College Defeats Trinity in Home Opener

Colorado College defeated Trinity University 3-1 this Saturday at Stewart Field.

The Tigers dominated Trinity, outshooting them 12-6 and 6-3 on corner kicks. Jasper Broad got the start in net for CC and made 3 saves to secure the Tiger win.

"I thought it was a tremendous team performance from start to finish," coach Scott Palguta said. "We had a wonderful first half to jump out to a 2-0 lead. Rough start to the second half but the moment I'm most proud of is our response to giving up that early second-half goal."

CC's first goal was scored by midfielder Sajji Singh with assists from Atticus Lynch and Oliver Ramirez to start the momentum for the Tigers.

The second Tigers goal came off an own goal by Trinity in the 39th minute.

In what turned out to be a very physical match between both Tiger teams, Trinity's lone goal came from a cross by Adam Knutson before Joseph Kuri found the back of the net.

A rocketed shot off the foot of forward Kevin Peterson secured the 3-1 win for the Tigers, the first victory over Trinity in almost three years.

"What a great memory for our senior captain playing against a very good [Trinity] team for the last time on our home field, very happy for [Peterson] and it was well deserved." Palguta said.

The Tigers return to action on Friday, Sept. 23rd against Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota.
