Kyler Kupka and Grant Cruikshank each had a goal and an assist to lead No. 3-ranked St. Cloud State to a 4-0 victory over Colorado College Saturday and salvage a split of the weekend series at the National Hockey Center.

With the victory, SCSU (16-6-0, 8-4-0 NCHC) took back sole possession of second place in the NCHC, while the Tigers (10-11-1, 6-5-1) fell to fourth place.

The Huskies scored first for the second consecutive night when Zach Okabe gathered his own rebound in front of CC goalie
Kaidan Mbereko and slid a backhander into the net at 13:27 of the opening frame.

After allowing 21 shots in the first period on Friday, CC's defense was much more stout in the first 20 minutes on Saturday, as SCSU put just seven shots on target, while the Tigers had six.

The second period was even more defensive on the Olympic-size sheet of ice, with each team getting just five shots on target.

Kupka doubled the lead midway through the third period when he took a centering pass from Cruikshank and beat Mbereko from the slot. Cruikshank then made it 3-0 at the 12:18 mark of the final frame.

Jami Krannila iced the game with an empty-net goal with 3:38 remaining.

Dominic Basse finished the game with 27 saves for the shutout, while Mbereko had 23. Each team collected 27 shots on goal.

After a 2-for-2 performance on the power play Friday night, the Tigers were 0-for-4 on Saturday, but did kill off SCSU's only man-advantage opportunity.

The Tigers return to action against 12
th-ranked Western Michigan, Jan. 20-21, at Ed Robson Arena. Friday's contest will be televised by AT&T SportsNet and TSN (Canada) and will start at 8 p.m. (MT).
