Wallace's First Career Shutout in 0-0 Draw With Air Force Closes Season

Despite 32 shots between both teams on a windy night from Weidner Field, the Colorado College women's soccer team fought to a 0-0 tie with the Air Force Falcons in the second-annual City For Champions Cup.

Freshman goalkeeper Regan Wallace earned her first career shutout after racking up 13 saves, her second most in a single game this season. With the saves against the Falcons, Wallace's season total stands at 111, which is tied for sixth-most in a single season amongst all CC keepers. Tiger legend Janine Sparza also had 111 saves in the 1986 season.

"She had a wonderful freshman year," head coach Keri Sanchez said about Wallace. "I'm really, really proud and excited for her that she came up with big saves and we got a shutout for it."

Wallace had numerous crucial saves in the second half, including one in the 85th minute when Air Force's Cassi Bych aimed toward the lower right side of the net before Wallace made an acrobatic save to keep it an even game.

The shutout for Wallace was also the first the Tigers had all season and their first since Oct. 23, 2022 in a 1-0 win over Nevada.

Senior Shalom Prince showed out in her last game in a Tiger uniform, leading the team with three shots and setting up numerous scoring opportunities. The Aurora native ended her senior campaign with a team-high five goals and 11 points. Prince (66 minutes) and fellow seniors Lily Byrne (58 minutes) and Haley Harnisch (66 minutes) played the majority of the match in their final game.

Byrne finishes the year second on the team with three goals and six points. Harnisch was third on the team with a goal and five points.

"I think they did a tremendous job of helping try to drag us along," Sanchez said. "When you look at who at who our main goal scorers were in key moments, it was those three seniors. I can't thank them enough for their effort to keep us together in a rough season. We're building, and they helped us build."

Sophomore Erin Ewers put up two shots and played 60 minutes.

The Falcons outshot the Tigers, 19-13, and CC had only two shots that were on target, but there were plenty of chances down the stretch that just missed wide of the posts.

CC finishes the year 3-13-2 and 3-7-1 in the Mountain West.
