Colorado College senior
Matt Vernon has signed an ECHL contract with the Reading Royals for the remainder of the 2022-23 season and will join the team immediately.
Reading is the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Philadelphia Flyers and American Hockey League's Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
Vernon played 75 games during his four seasons with the Tigers, including 12 in 2022-23. He posted a career save percentage of .899 and collected three shutouts.
As a senior, Vernon primarily backed up freshman
Kaidan Mbereko, posting two shutouts and a career-best 2.57 goals against average. He was in net for both of CC's 0-0 games in program history, last season against Minnesota Duluth and this year versus North Dakota.
Vernon is the second Tiger to sign a professional contract this year, joining
Hunter McKown, who signed with the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets.
