The Colorado College men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to Division II Colorado Mesa University Saturday at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs.

Andrew Kaelin won his sixth consecutive singles match to give the Tigers their lone point. Kaelin rallied to edge Jandre van Wyk, 5-7, 6-3, 1-0(9), at the No. 5 match.

The Mavericks opened the match by sweeping the three doubles contests. Tyler Landen and William Leschig defeated
Aiden Little and
Jack Delafield, 8-5, at the top spot, Henry Scheck and van Wyk downed Kaelin and
Nate Beerman, 8-6, at the No. 2 position, and Jorge Abreu and Tegan Hartman slipped past
August Knox and
Nick Bishop, 8-7(5) at No. 3. Â

Colorado Mesa kept up the momentum in singles action by winning five of the six matches, four of them in straight sets.
Lucas Pastor nearly won the No. 2 match, but ultimately fell to Abreu, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0(7), while Beerman (No. 3) and Knox (No. 4) each took his opponent to one tiebreak.

The Tigers return to action on Sunday, April 2, against the 31
st-ranked team in Division II, Metro State, in Denver, beginning at 11 a.m.
