16th-Ranked Tigers Sweep No. 12 Western Michigan

For the second straight night, Noah Laba scored in overtime to give 16th-ranked Colorado College a 2-1 victory over #12 Western Michigan and complete the weekend sweep over the Broncos in Kalamazoo.

Laba scored his fourth overtime goal and sixth game winner of the season with 2:03 remaining to secure CC's sixth sweep of the season, the most since the 2007-08 campaign. Evan Werner took a shot from the right circle that was saved by WMU goalie Cameron Rowe, but Laba was charging the net and put home the rebound.

Kaidan Mbereko was outstanding in the net once again with 38 saves, his second-most this season, as the Tigers (15-8-1, 9-5-0 NCHC) moved ahead of WMU in the NCHC standings and into a tie for third place with Denver. CC equaled its most conference wins in one season since joining the league in 2014.

Laba opened the scoring at the 4:59 mark of the first period. Nicklas Andrews' shot from the left point was deflected in front by Gleb Veremyev and saved by Rowe, but Laba was right in front to put home the rebound.

Alex Bump tied the score at 9:46 of the second period. Jacob Bauer found Bump from behind the net and Bump put the puck past CC goalie Kaidan Mbereko from the right post.

The Tigers killed off a penalty late in the third period following a tripping call to Logan Will with 4:11 to play. For the second consecutive game, neither team scored in the third period to force overtime with the score tied at 1-1. Western Michigan was 0-for-4 on the power play Saturday.

Western Michigan (15-8-1, 6-8-0) outshot the Tigers, 39-23, led by Bump and Sam Colengelo, each with a game-high seven. Laba led CC with five.

The Tigers, winners of five straight conference games for the first time since the 2010-11 season, return home to face St. Cloud State, Feb. 2-3, at Ed Robson Arena.
