Ty Gallagher and
Drew Montgomery each scored two goals to lead the Colorado College hockey team to a 8-0 victory over Briercrest College in an exhibition game Saturday night at Ed Robson Arena.
Ryan Beck collected three assists and
Noah Laba added a goal and two helpers as the Tigers dominated from start to finish, outshooting Briercrest, 50-5.
Laba opened the scoring at the 8:47 mark of the first period on a beautiful tic-tac-toe play from Beck and
Bret Link.
The Tigers exploded for five goals in the middle period, beginning with
Fisher Scott scoring just 2:08 into the frame. Beck picked his second assist on the play.
Gallagher scored a power-play goal at the 5:14 mark, taking a pass from Laba and scorching a one-timer past Briercrest goalie Dominik Tmej. Gallagher then made it 4-0 at 12:49 of the second period with a wrister from the slot off a pass from Beck.
Montgomery scored at the 14:50 mark and
Max Burkholder closed out the second-period scoring with 1:20 left as Laba collected his second assist of the contest.
Jordan Brisson made it 7-0 with an unassisted goal just 3:05 into the third period and Montgomery closed out the scoring at the 8:44 mark.
The Tigers open the 2024-25 regular season with a weekend series against Northern Michigan, Oct. 11-12, at Robson Arena.
