Wisdom Scores Four Times As No. 15/16 Tigers Dominate No. 2 North Dakota

Zaccharya Wisdom scored four goals and added an assist and Ryan Beck collected a career-high four assists to lead No. 15/16 Colorado College to a 7-1 victory over No. 2 North Dakota Friday night at Ed Robson Arena.

Klans Veinbergs posted a career-high four points and Kaidan Mbereko had 23 saves as the Tigers improved to 17-9-1 overall and 11-6-0 in the NCHC and clinched the program's first regular-season winning record since the 2011-12 campaign.

Veinbergs opened the scoring at the 7:54 mark with the first of CC's four power-play goals, the most in one game since scoring the same amount against Air Force on Oct. 28, 2022.

Riese Gaber evened the game at the 9:22 mark, but Gleb Veremyev put the Tigers ahead to stay with his 10th goal of the season at the 18:02 mark off an assist from Wisdom.

The Tigers put the game away with three goals in the second period, starting with Wisdom making it 3-1. Veinbergs sent the puck towards the net and Wisdom knocked it out of the air past UND goalie Ludvig Persson at the 13:24 mark of the middle frame.

Tyler Coffey made it 4-1 with a wrister from the left circle, then Wisdom notched the final three tallies of the game, with the first of the three chasing Persson after another power-play goal at the 16:12 mark of the second.

Wisdom collected his hat trick, the first by a Tiger since Hunter McKown on Dec. 9, 2022, on the power play at 4:35 of the third period, then closed the scoring with 7:33 remaining in the game. The freshman from Toronto, Canada, is the first CC player with four goals in a game since Ben Copeland had four vs. Western Michigan on Feb. 23, 2019, the same game a Tiger last recorded four helpers (Trevor Gooch). Beck assisted on three of Wisdom's goal and Veinbergs' opening goal.

Mbereko, who was named a semifinalist for the Mike Richter Award earlier this week, was stellar once again, making 12 of his 23 saves in the first period and stopping six shots on UND's four power-play opportunities.

The Tigers moved back into third place in the NCHC standings, with 30 points, six behind second-place St. Cloud State and one ahead of fourth-place Western Michigan.

The teams will wrap up their season series on Saturday, Feb. 17, beginning at 6 p.m. (MT).
