CC Ranked No. 3 In United Soccer Coaches National Poll

Tuesday, Sept. 17, is a historic date for the Colorado College men's soccer team. The Tigers are ranked No. 3 in the United Soccer Coaches national poll, the highest ranking in team history since the polls began in 1996.

CC entered the season ranked No. 6 and dropped to No. 7 last week, but it is currently 5-0-1 after a successful four-point weekend. This included a tie against No. 13 Ohio Northern and a 2-1 win over Emory. The Tigers are having their best start to a season since 1995.

The Tigers are ranked sixth in the nation in goal differential after outsourcing their opponents 21-2 through the first three weeks. They also ranked sixth in shots per game (22.5) and 11 in total goals (21).

CC travels to Newport News, VA, this weekend to take on No. 13 Christopher Newport and No. 1 Mary Washington. It is slated to be a packed weekend in Virginia, with three of the four teams competing ranked in the Top 10.

Mary Washington received its first No. 1 ranking since last season, where the Eagles has two weeks at the top of the national polls. Christopher Newport jumped from being unranked last week to No. 13 on Tuesday. The Captains are 4-0-2 and have given up only one goal in their last three matches.

No. 9 Rowan University will also compete, but the Tigers aren't slated to face the Owls.

CC will face CNU first on Friday, Sept. 20 and then Mary Washington on Saturday, Sept. 21.
