The No. 6 Colorado College men's soccer team hits the road for the first time in 2024, traveling east to Nebraska to take on Nebraska Wesleyan and Simpson College. The Tigers will play at Nebraska Wesleyan for both games, facing the Prairie Wolves on Saturday at 9 a.m. MT, Sept. 7, and the Storm on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. MT.
Last Time Out
CC is 2-0 to start the season after downing Fontbonne and Concordia-Moorhead by a combined score of 15-0. Ten players have scored, including five who have scored twice.
Jack Hilliard leads the team with points, and the sophomore also has two assists.
The Tigers took a combined 60 shots, including 35 on goal.
Oliver Ramirez leads the team with five shots on net, and
Wyatt Linggi and
Teddy Libby both have six shots to lead the program.
Hilliard,
Alexander Ward,
Luke Stefanski,
Teddy Opler and
Vincent Luglio scored twice. Both Luglio and Opler had career-first multi-goal games last weekend.
Player of the Week
Jack Hilliard was named the season's inaugural SCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Monday, September 2nd.
Hilliard played a leading role in the Tigers, scoring 15 goals in the first two games of the 2024 season. The 2023 SCAC Newcomer of the Year finished the weekend with six points on two goals and two assists.
It is the first POTW award honor of Hilliard's career. After his stellar freshman season, he was named the 2023 SCAC Newcomer of the Year.
Scouting the Opposition
Nebraska Wesleyan is 2-0 to start the season after back-to-back wins over Westminster College (MO) and Principia College. The Prairie Wolves outscored their opponents 7-1 in the wins, including a five-goal game against Principia on Aug. 31.
Sophomore Thomas Pisasale leads the squad with three goals, all coming against Principia. After not logging a shot in the season opener against Westminster, Pisasale needed only his three shots to find the back of the net.
Simpson enters the weekend 1-1 with a 3-0 win over Augustana College, followed by a 2-0 defeat to Macalester College on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
