The Colorado College women's swimming and diving team completed its season-opening two-day double dual against Grinnell and Augustana on Saturday in Grinnell, Iowa.
Â
The Tigers defeated both teams, 219-102 over Augustana and 180-165 over Grinnell.
Â
On Saturday, senior
Megan Simonson, junior
Isabella Cole and sophomore
Julia Cox each posted an individual and at least one relay win.
Â
Simonson won the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.64 seconds and anchored the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Cole captured the 200 breaststroke and swam on the 200 medley relay.
Â
Cox, meanwhile, touched first in the 200 freestyle in 2:00.39 and led off the 200 freestyle relay.
Â
Freshman
Livi Woolery was a member of both triumphant relay teams, while fellow freshman Annie Engstronm won the 1000 freestyle race after winning the 500 free on Friday.
Â
"I am proud of how we competed and finished the weekend," head coach
Jen Buffin said. "We came out strong again today, sweeping the relays and showing great depth across the board. Our sprinters
Megan Simonson,
Livi Woolery,
Julia Cox, and
Sarah Buchman set the tone early, and the distance group, led by
Annie Engstrom and
Kylie Spalt, carried that momentum through the session.
Isabella Cole was outstanding as well, helping the medley relay, and taking the win in the 200 breaststroke."
Â
The Tigers return to action on Friday, Oct. 24, with a dual match at Colorado School of Mines.
