The Colorado College tennis teams continue the spring season with a pair of matches this weekend at Lifetime Fitness in Colorado Springs. On Friday, Feb. 21, the Tigers face Division II foe Metro State at 6:30 p.m., then battle Barton Community College on Sunday, Feb. 23, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

The Tigers faced off against Seward Community College on Feb. 8.

The women opened its spring season with a 4-3 victory, their first-ever win over Seward County Community College.

CC jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by winning two of the three doubles matches. Freshmen
Amelia Karr and
Lucia Moravek won the No. 2 match, 7-6(5), over Elena Oborocea and Alejandra Ramirez, while the No. 3 team of
Avery Hickman and
Lindsay Popeo won by default.

The teams split the six singles matches, including a default win by Karr at the No. 6 spot. Moravek downed Oborocea, 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 4 spot, while
Aspen Young rolled past Ramirez, 6-2, 6-1.

On the men's side, the Tigers fell 6-1. The Saints jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by sweeping the three doubles matches.
Dominik Kaminski and
Lenny Lehmitz dropped the No. 1 match to Sammy Antwi and Abubakaru Yakubu-Lea, 6-4, then Seward County won the No 2 and 3 matches, 6-2, and 6-1, respectively.

Lehmitz captured the only individual victory for the Tigers on Saturday, defeating Ojngen Gajic, 6-1, 7-5, at the No. 6 match. Kaminski took Sebastian De Los Salos to three sets at the No. 2 spot before falling, 6-2, 6-7(3), 1-0(7).

Up Next
The Tigers will be idle until facing Marist College on Thursday, March 13, at the Air Force Academy. The women's match will start at 9 a.m., followed by the men at noon.
