Tigers Open Season With VIctory Over Asbury

The Colorado College men's swimming and diving team opened the 2026-27 season with a 120-72 victory over Asbury University Friday afternoon at Schlessman Natatorium.

Juniors Sam Allen and Andrew Colgan and freshman Igor Potempa led the way for the Tigers, with each winning an individual race and swimming on CC's two victorious relays.

Allen won the 200 IM, Colgan captured the 100 breaststroke and Potempa touched the wall first in the 200 freestyle. They also joined sophomore Logan Loveday to win the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Loveday finished second to Allen in the 200 IM.

"I thought we did a great job executing our races tonight," head coach Jen Buffin said. "Our team brought great energy, stayed focused, and competed with purpose. It was exciting to see how our freshmen responded in their first collegiate meet, and I was especially proud of the leadership our seniors demonstrated throughout the evening. This was a great way to open our season against a strong conference opponent, and we're looking forward to carrying that energy and team first mentality into tomorrow's relay meet."

Senior Nico Rimer, the reigning SCAC Diver of the Year, won both the 1-meter and 3-meter events, followed by freshman Logan Tennant in each event.

"We came into our first meet of the season with great energy and a competitive mindset," diving coach Ellen Walker said. "The divers did a nice job of staying present, remaining focused, and taking it one dive at a time. Nico Rimer set the tone by achieving his first NCAA regional qualifying score of the season on the 1-meter board. It was a great start to the season, and I'm excited to see how this group continues to grow and build momentum as we move forward."

Colorado College and Asbury will compete in a relay meet on Saturday, Oct. 17, beginning at 11 a.m.
