Women's Soccer Falls 1-0 in City for Champions Cup

Annika Jost scored the game's only goal with a penalty kick just 1:36 into the contest to lead the Air Force women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Colorado College in the fifth annual City for Champions Cup in front of 1,497 fans at Weidner Field.

The Falcons regained possession of the C4C trophy for the first time since 2023 after CC held it for the past two seasons.

The Tigers suffered their first loss during conference play after going 6-0-1 in their first seven contests and fell to 8-5-4 overall.

Jost put the Falcons (11-4-1, 6-2-0 MW) on the board after Chase Borntreger was taken down in the box by CC's Dayleigh Bos. Jost beat Tiger goalie Regan Wallace low into the right corner.

For the remainder of the first half, the Tigers controlled the action, outshooting Air Force, 6-2, but could not put any of their three shots on goal past AFA goalie Sydney Nelms. Wallace, meanwhile, did not see another shot on goal during the first 45 minutes.

Colorado College continued its possession dominance for the majority of the second half and attempted another six shots, again with three of them on target. Unfortunately, Nelms (six saves) stopped them all to preserve the shutout for the Falcons, who attempted just two shots, both off target, in the second half.

CC's Ella Ashouri led all players with three shots, including one on goal, while Sophie Mayne and Kendall Memoly each had two.

The Tigers return to action on Sunday, Nov. 1, with their final home match of the season at Stewart Field against Grand Canyon University, beginning at 1 p.m.
