No. 11 Tigers and Lindenwood Skate To 2-2 Draw

CC wins shootout 2-0

No. 11 Colorado College wrapped up its non-conference series against Lindenwood with a 2-2 tie Saturday afternoon at Ed Robson Arena. The Tigers won the three-player shootout as Tomas Mrsic and Carmelo Crandell scored and the Lions missed both of their opportunities.

Colton Roberts and Owen Beckner each notched a goal in regulation and Jackson Unger made 32 saves for CC, now 7-2-1 overall this season.

Lindenwood's Jake Delaney opened the scoring with 3:58 remaining in the first period. Delaney took the puck into the tiger zone and placed a wrister from the top of the right circle past Unger.

The Tigers opened the second period with a power play for 1:49 and put four shots on Lindenwood goalie Liam Beerman (34 saves), but could not convert.

Drew Montgomery had a golden opportunity to even the game, but his clean breakaway shot was saved by Beerman.

Kim Elfving gave the visitors a 2-0 lead at the 14:53 mark of the middle frame with a wrist shot from the slot.

Roberts got the Tigers on the board with his second goal of the weekend with 2:14 remaining in the second period. He took a pass from Wilson Björck and fired a rocket from the right point that beat Beerman. Björck collected his fifth assist of the weekend on the play.

Soon after, the Tigers were whistled for a pair of penalties within 32 seconds of each other late in the frame. Both penalties were killed as the Tigers allowed just one shot on goal during the two-man deficit.

Beckner evened the game at the 7:44 mark of the third period with his fifth goal of the season. Drew Montgomery had a shot blocked in front of the net and Beckner collected the puck at the right dot and fired a shot to the far post that beat Beerman.

The Tigers outshot Lindenwood (3-6-1) by a 36-34 margin and both teams were 0-for-4 on the power play. CC has now killed its last 16 penalties and have allowed just two power-play goals in 31 opportunities this season.

The Tigers return to NCHC action next weekend with a series against No. 5 Western Michigan, Nov. 13-14, in Kalamazoo, Mich.
