Tigers Fall to No. 4 Western Michigan in Home Finale

Colorado College dropped its regular-season home finale to No. 4 Western Michigan, 2-0, Saturday night at Ed Robson Arena.

Hunter Slukynsky had 28 saves for Western Michigan (23-8-1, 15-6-1 NCHC), while Grant Slukynsky and Zacch Wisdom each had a goal and an assist.

Kaidan Mbereko made 24 saves for the Tigers (12-15-5, 6-11-5 NCHC) in his final appearance at Robson Arena.

Wisdom opened the scoring for WMU at the 9:21 mark of the first period. He grabbed the puck behind the net, brought it out front and jammed a shot past Mbereko.

It looked like the Tigers tied the game with a few seconds remaining in the second period, but Ryan Alexander was called for interference just before Mats Lindgren scored on a rocket from the right point that would have beaten the clock at the end of the period.

Instead of a tie game, WMU had a power play for 1:59 to begin the third period. The Tigers killed the penalty, but Western Michigan took a 2-0 lead at the 4:18 mark of the final frame. Grant Slukynsky, who assisted on Wisdom's goal, took a pass from Wisdom and beat Mbereko from the left circle.

The Tigers outshot WMU, 28-26, led by a career-high seven from Owen Beckner, while Liam Valente also had seven for the Broncos.

Neither team scored on the power play for the second consecutive night, with CC going 0-for-5 and the Broncos 0-for-3.

CC's two seniors, Mbereko and Alexander, were honored in a post-game ceremony. Mbereko is No. 2 on the school's career list with 126 games played as a goalie, just one behind Jeff Sanger (1998-2002). Alexander has played in 30 of CC;s 32 games this season after transferring from Arizona State prior to the 2025-26 campaign

Colorado College travels to Minnesota Duluth next weekend, Feb. 27-28, for the final series of the regular season. The Tigers currently sit in a sixth-place tie with Miami in the NCHC standings.
