Tigers Skate to 2-2 Draw at No. 9 Minnesota Duluth

Brandon Lisowsky scored twice and Jackson Unger made 32 saves to lead Colorado College to a 2-2 tie against 9th-ranked Minnesota Duluth in the regular-season finale Saturday night at Amsoil Arena.

UMD (20-13-1, 11-12-1) won the shootout in seven rounds to pick up the extra point in the NCHC standings.

The Tigers (13-15-6, 7-11-6) finish the regular season in sixth place in the final league standings and will travel to Kalamazoo, Mich., next weekend to face No. 4-ranked Western Michigan in a best-of-three quarterfinal series.

For the second consecutive game, the Tigers scored on their first shot of the game as Lisowsky gave CC a 1-0 lead just 1:50 into the contest. Connor Hvidston dropped a pass to Drew Montgomery, who sent a cross-ice pass to Lisowsky and he beat UMD goalie Adam Gajan from the left circle.

Also for the second straight night, CC held a 1-0 lead after the first and second periods after neither team found the back of the net in the middle frame.

Lisowsky scored his second of the game just 1:29 into the third period. Hvidston received a pass from Lisowsky and took the puck behind the net before finding Lisowsky, who beat Gajan from the bottom of the left circle for his second career two-goal game.

Zam Plante scored twice in the final 11 minutes to even the game for UMD. He cut the Tiger lead to 2-1 at the 9:28 mark of the third period, just two seconds after the Tigers killed a UMD power-play opportunity, then scored a power-play goal with 3:13 remaining in regulation.

The Bulldogs outshot CC, 34-22, and were 1-for-4 on the power play. The Tigers, meanwhile, were 0-for-2 with a man advantage. Gajan finished the game with 20 saves.

The first game of the best-of-three quarterfinal series at Western Michigan will be on Friday, March 6, at Lawson Arena.
