The Colorado College men's tennis team won the doubles point, but fell to Division II Colorado Mesa, 4-3, Saturday in the Tigers' 2026 spring opener in Grand Junction, Colo.
 
CC captured the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Lenny Lehmitz and Sam Dilworth defeated Emil Hultman and Diogo Manzano, 7-5, at the No. 2 position, while Sam Lessard and Ross Cockrell beat Amdrew Lock and Gavin Hutter, 7-5, at No. 3.  
 
Five of the six singles matches went to a third set super-tiebreak. The Mavericks rallied to win four of the singles matches, with three of them going to a third set. Hugo Vohmann captured his first career dual match singles victory with a 3-6, 6-1, 1-0(8) win over Hutter at No. 5 and Sam Lessard did the same at No. 6 with a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0(9) victory over Luke Burresci.
 
The teams played a second match in the afternoon, with Colorado Mesa winning ?-?. It was considered an exhibition match for Colorado College.
 
The Tigers return to action on Thursday, March 12, against McMurry University in Abilene, Texas, the first of four SCAC matches in four days.
