Box Score The Colorado College men's tennis team remained perfect in the SCAC Sunday with a 6-1 victory over Concordia University in Austin, Texas, giving CC its best start to a season since 2006.
The Tigers (4-1, 4-0 SCAC) swept the doubles matches for the third straight match to take an early 1-0 lead, winning each match by a 6-3 score.
Lenny Lehmitz and
Sam Dilworth defeated Daniel Beckles and Aaron Griffin at the top spot, while
Dominik Kaminski and
Justin Boder downed Rowan Daniell and Kade Talbot at No. 2.
Nick Anderson and
Sam Lessard completed the sweep with victory over Steven Scholz and Jake Riggs at the No. 3 position.
CC then won five of the six singles matches, including a three-set victory by
Ross Cockrell, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, over Talbot at the No. 4 spot. The other four wins for Colorado College came in straight sets.
"The guys brought amazing energy from the jump and let momentum from doubles carry into singles," head coach
Anthony Weber said. "Ross got the clinch in 3 sets at No. 4 in his first big test as a Tiger. This was a big team win."
The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, March 18, against Babson College in Claremont, Calif.
