The Colorado College men's tennis team wrapped up its 2026 season on Friday with a 4-0 loss to 14^th-ranked Sewanee Friday afternoon in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament in Claremont, Calif.
 
CC (14-7) made its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in program history after winning the SCAC title two weeks ago.
 
Sewanee (21-1) took an early 1-0 lead by winning the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches. Drew Rukavina and Ben Lammert defeated Lenny Lehmitz and Ross Cockrell 6-1, in the No. 2 match, then Max Verellen and Lucas Wrigley clinched the point with 6-2 victory over Nick Anderson and Sam Lessard at the No. 3 spot. At that point, the No. 1 match was pulled, with CC's Dominik Kaminski and Justin Boder leading Henry Hyden and Samuel Schroerlucke, 4-2.           
 
Lammert put Sewanee ahead 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-4, victory over Lehmitz at the No. 2 singles position, and made it 3-0 after downing Lessard, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 5 spot.
 
Verellen then clinched the team match when Cockrell was forced to retire with Verellen leading 6-4, 4-2. At that point, the other three matches were pulled. CC's Hugo Vohmann was leading Schroerlucke, 6-3, 4-2, at the No. 4 position, while Sewanee was up a set and leading in the second set at No. 1 and No. 6.
 
"I am very thankful for this group of guys," head coach Anthony Weber said. "They took on late night practices, finished a long spring break with a double header, beat Colorado Mesa for the first time in 17 years, went to the dance, and made me laugh at practice every single day. It was quite the ride with many proud moments."
