Paced by a pair of top 10 finishes, the Colorado College women's cross country tied its best result ever at the season-opening UCCS Rust Buster Meet with a second-place finish Saturday in Monument Valley Park.
 
Senior Charlie Flint finished fourth individually with a 5K time of 18:08.4, followed by freshman Austin Cook in fifth with a clocking of 18:12.6.  
 
Sophomore Sadie Honig placed 18^th in a personal-best time of 18:58.4, while freshmen Annie Schendel (23^rd /19:14.4) and Lila Muirhead (24^th / 19:17.2) rounded out the scoring for the Tigers.
 
Colorado College, the only Division III school at the meet, repeated as the runner-up at the Rust Buster.
 
"The season got off to a great start for us," head coach Alex Nichols said. "Seeing Charlie and Ausin both finish in the top five was great, and having the top seven under 19:30 on a hot day is a positive sign for the season ahead. The team can take some confidence from today and use it as motivation to train hard for the second half of the season."
