2011-12: Finished fifth in the 200-yard freestyle at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in a time of 1:56.71 … Finished seventh in the 1,650 freestyle in 18:22.66 … Won the consolation final and finished ninth overall in the 500 free with a time of 5:15.17 … Swam the leadoff leg on the 800 free relay team that finished third in a time of 7:58.09 and anchored the 400 free relay team that finished third in 3:39.30 … Swam the second leg on the 400 medley relay team that finished 10th in a time of 4:14.14 … Won the 200 free at the Colorado College Classic in a season-best time of 2:01.96 … Earned a spot on the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference’s Honor Roll for excellence in the classroom.

2010-11: Earned a spot on the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's Honor Roll for excellence in the classroom … Placed seventh in the 200 freestyle with a season-best time of 1:59.31 during the SCAC Championships … Finished 15th in the 100 free during the conference championships … Swam on three relay teams (200 free relay, 400 free relay and 800 free relay) that all broke school records at the SCAC Championships.

2009-10: Placed ninth in the 1,650 free and 10th in the 500 free during the SCAC Championships … Swam a career-best 1:58.02 in the 200 free during the conference championships … Helped her team finish fifth in the 400 free relay event at the SCAC Championships … Received a spot on the SCAC’s Honor Roll for excellence in the classroom.

2008-2009: Markel capped an impressive freshman year by finishing sixth in both the 200 and 500 freestyle, as well as12th in 200 breaststroke, at the SCAC Championships ... Set a school record in the 500 free (5:14.61) and swam a leg on the relay teams that set new Colorado College standards in the 800 free and 400 medley events.
