HIGHLIGHTS AS A TIGER
2010-11: Civitarese played in all but three games for Colorado College as a junior, typically centering the fourth line...an adept penalty killer and shot blocker, he struck for a huge shorthanded goal late in the first period of an 8-4 victory over Boston College at the NCAA West Regional...earlier scored the game winner in a 5-4 triumph at home over national champion University of Minnesota Duluth in late February, as well as in a 3-2 triumph at the University of Wisconsin in early March...also recorded a key assist as the Tigers beat WCHA regular-season champion University of North Dakota in late January...one of three WCHA Scholar-Athletes on last year’s roster and a two-time member of the league’s All-Academic Team...co-recipient of the Paul Markovich Award presented annually to the team’s top student.
2009-10: One of four WCHA Scholar-Athletes from Colorado College, Civitarese played in 23 of CC’s first 27 games, establishing himself as center on the team’s top line before injuries slowed him down late during his sophomore season...picked up a pair of assists, including one on the game-winning goal, in a 4-2 victory over Cornell University at the Florida College Hockey Classic, then struck for his first career tally a night later in the tournament’s championship game against the University of Maine.
2008-09: Skated in 14 outings as a freshman, helping the Tigers post a 9-2-3 record when he was in the lineup...recorded his first career points with an assist in both games of a weekend tie (2-2) and victory (7-0) over Sacred Heart University at mid-season...later set up a key goal on the road in a 4-3 triumph at Wisconsin.
HIGH SCHOOL/JUNIORS: Civitarese amassed 76 points (31g,45a) in 2007-08, his second season with the Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League...six of his goals were game winners...selected to the South AJHL all-star team, and earned all-league recognition after leading the Oilers to a second-place finish in their division for the second consecutive campaign...previously played for the Edge School Mountaineers at the Midget AAA level.
PERSONAL NOTES: Born David Marc Civitarese, son of Marco and Maria Civitarese of Calgary, Alberta...recipient of several prestigious scholarship awards in Calgary, including the Abruzzese and Italian Sportsman...a graduate of Holy Trinity Academy in Okotoks, Alberta, where he earned the school’s Student Athlete Award his final year in high school...interned at the Steadman Clinic in Vail during summer of 2011.
