EL POMAR SPORTS CENTER
 |
After 15 months of construction, extensive improvements to the tune of $27 million for the athletic and recreation facilities in Colorado College's El Pomar Sports Center were completed in the spring of 2013.
The facility originally opened on Dec. 29, 1970, and was a major addition to the campus at the time. With the renovations and addition of the Adam F. Press Fitness Center, it meets, and exceeds, the needs of students, faculty and staff.
CC’s numerous intercollegiate, intramural and recreational athletics programs are centered at the sports complex consisting of Washburn and Stewart Fields, Burghart Tennis Courts and Honnen Ice Rink.
The El Pomar Sports Center houses the athletics department offices as well as J. Juan Reid Area, home court for the CC basketball and volleyball teams, Schlessman Natatorium, Jerry Carle Strength and Conditioning Center, Ritt Kellogg Climbing Gym and Sports Medicine Suite. Several conference and meeting rooms for classes, teams, staff and students are sprinkled around the complex.
