2020 Golden Awards


    
  
On May 13, the Colorado College SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) presented the fifth annual Golden Awards virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic..

The Tigers celebrated a great and unusual 2019-20 season with recaps from each program and SAAC representatives presented some of their peers with annual awards. 

Senior Male Athlete of the Year: CooXooEii Black (Men's Basketball)

Senior Female Athlete of the Year: Jordan Meltzer (Women's Basketball)

Chris M. Quon Award: Haley Harris (Volleyball)

Best Game in a Team Sport: Tie, the men's soccer team defeated Trinity University, 2-1, to clinch a share of its first-ever SCAC regular-season title and the women's cross country team won the 2019 SCAC Championship in Widefield, Colo.
 
Best Upset in a Team Sport: The women's soccer team defeated Mountain-West leader Boise State, 1-0, in Boise, Idaho.

Best Moment: Senior Eric Dallesasse came from behind to win the 100-yard butterfly, his 6th SCAC title in his four years. After trailing by 0.4 seconds at the halfway mark, he showed what hard-work and dedication can do by winning the event by less then 0.3 seconds.

Best Performance in an Individual Sport: Junior Camille Weaver broke the school record in the indoor 60-meter hurdles race at UCCS with a time of 9.2 seconds in the preliminary round, then proceeded to break her own record the next day in the finals with a time of 9.14 seconds. Later that day, she broke the school record in the indoor long jump, and two weeks later, broke the school records for both the indoor high jump and triple jump. The culmination of these achievements led Weaver to qualify for the NCAA DIII Indoor Track and Field Championships in the high jump.

Best Team: Tie, the men's soccer team won its first SCAC regular-season championship and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time in seven years, while the volleyball team finished with a 32-5 overall record (.865 winning percentage), posted a 17-1 mark in the SCAC (.944 winning percentage) and advanced to its 22nd consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The soccer team lost in the first round to Gustavus Adolphus and the volleyball team reached the regional final before falling to Emory.

Jerry Carle Award: Noah Forman (Men's Tennis)

Tiger Award: Miolly Hinker (Women's Soccer)

Mentorship Award: Liza Huschle (Women's Track and Field)

Community Service Award: Hailey Schramm (Women's Swimming and Diving)
 
Newcomer of the Year: Kate Brush (Women's Swimming and Diving) - Two-time winner at he SCAC Championships.

Coach of the Year: Anne Goodman-James (Women's Swimming and Diving)
