Hall of Fame Class of 2009

Three outstanding student-athletes of the past, representing the sports of football, hockey, soccer and track and field, have joined the Colorado College Athletics Hall of Fame.

Tom Southall '85, Doug Lidster '83 and Arron Lujan '95 officially became members of the HOF's 15th class during official induction ceremonies at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort on May 9, 2009.

Southall, the only one of the three inductees to have lettered in two sports, was a four-year standout in both football and track and field. On the gridiron, where he compiled his share of carries and pass receptions as a halfback, he is best remembered for running back kickoffs and punts. His 82-yard punt return against Trinity University in 1982 still stands as a school record. In track and field, he also holds the all-time CC record of 24 feet in the long jump, as well as sharing the 4-by-100 relay mark of 41.7 seconds with Fred Galves, John Champion and Pat Geonetta.

Lidster, a defenseman on the hockey team, earned All-America honors as a senior in 1982-83 before going on to play on two Stanley Cup Championship teams in the NHL. In between, he also represented his native Canada at the 1984 Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. All in all, he completed professionally at the sport's highest level for 16 seasons. He won Stanley Cups with the New York Rangers in 1994 and Dallas Stars in 1999. More than a quarter of a decade after graduating, he still ranks third all-time among CC defensemen with 174 career points (56g,118a).

Fourteen years after graduating, Lujan still ranks as the all-time leader in goals, assists and points for the Colorado College men's soccer program. A first-team All-American as a senior in 1994, he amassed 200 career points with 69 tallies and 62 assists during his four seasons in a CC uniform. He scored 25 times as a sophomore in 1992 when the Tigers went 18-2-2 and reached the national Division III semifinals. He went on to play professionally with the Colorado Foxes, Hampton Roads Mariners, Boston Bulldogs and El Paso Patriots.
