John Lidgett 2025

John Lidgett

John Lidgett is in his third season as an assistant hockey coach at Colorado College. He was named to the staff on August 18, 2022.

Last year, Lidgett helped the Tigers to their best season in over a decade, producing a 21-13-3 record, the most wins in one season since the 2010-11 campaign.

CC tied for third place in the NCHC standings, hosted its first playoff series since 2012 and completed a four-game season sweep of North Dakota for the first time in program history.

In his first season, the Tigers posted their first-ever road playoff series win last year at Western Michigan, then a thrilling 1-0 upset of 3rd-ranked Denver in the NCHC semifinal.

A native of Calgary, Alberta, Lidgett spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Niagara, working for former CC assistant Jason Lammers. Prior to that, he was an assistant under current Tiger associate head coach Peter Mannino with the Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL during the 2019-20 campaign.

Lidgett played collegiately at Colgate University from 2011-15, amassing 51 points (19g,32a) in 149 career games. He helped the Raiders advance to a pair of ECAC Tournament final appearances (2014, '15) and a berth in the 2014 NCAA Division I Tournament.

He graduated from Colgate in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in English.

Following his four years at Colgate, he began his coaching career as an assistant and received an MBA with a leadership concentration at Aurora University, a Division III program in Illinois, before joining Mannino's staff in Des Moines.

Lidgett has been very successful coaching penalty-kill units, leading both Aurora (89%) and Niagara (85%, 10th nationally) to conference-best percentages during his tenure.

The 28-year-old played for Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge prior to enrolling at Colgate.
