2012: Senior concluded an excellent career by running a personal-best time of 14:34.95 in the 5,000 at the long beach Invitational, the second best 5K in school history. However that time fell short of the NCAA Division III national championships.,, placed second in the 1,500 (3:57.37) at SCAC Championships to garner all-conference honors in track for the third time.
2011: Brainerd joined senior teammate Andrew Wagner in the 1,500-meter competition at the NCAA Division III championship meet after turning in an altitude-adjusted time of 3:51.58 at the University of Colorado Invitational in early April...earned double all-conference honors in the SCAC after finishing second in the 1,500 (3:58.89) and 5,000 (15:25.5) at the league meet.
2010: Recipient of the team's “Most Valuable” award due to his hard work and commitment…finished 13th nationally in the 1,500 meters with a 3:53.84 clocking at the Division III championships…set a new personal best in the 5K with a  time of 15:22.
2009: As a freshman, Brainerd was a member of CC's 4x800 relay team (with Colin Gazley, Andrew Wagner and Kaleb Fergin) that established a school record of 7:56.7 in the event. 

Before Colorado College: Brainerd earned second-team all-league and regional scholar-athlete honors as a prep at Arapahoe High School, where he helped the cross country team to a runner-up finish at the Colorado state meet as a senior in 2008 ... also ran a leg for the 4x800 relay team that took second in the state that year.
