Eric Gordon is in his first season as an assistant track and field coach at Colorado College.
Gordon was the head cross country and track and field coach at Banning Lewis Prep Academy in Colorado Springs from 2017-19, then served as an assistant coach for the track and field program there from 2021-22. He also was an assistant wrestling coach at Rampart High School from 2018-22.
“We are thrilled to add Eric to our coaching staff,” head coach Katie Bretscher said. “Being a former decathlete, his athletic and coaching experiences will make an immediate impact with our program. He brings a lot of energy and versatility to our staff.”
Prior to coming to Colorado Springs, Gordon served as a volunteer track and field coach at Illinois State University during the 2016-17 season.
He was a four-year letterwinner in track and field at Eastern Illinois University, serving as a team captain his senior campaign, and was a first-team all-Ohio Valley Conference selection in the heptathlon, decathlon and pole vault that season. Gordon was a Division I Academic All-American as a sophomore and is on the school’s career Top-10 lists for the heptathlon and pole vault.
Gordon, who earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and sports studies from Eastern Illinois in 2016, will work primarily with the throwers and pole vaulters at CC.
