Cam McKinney

Colorado College men's basketball head coach Jeff Conarroe announced the hiring of Cam McKinney as CC's new assistant coach on June, 13th, 2025.

McKinney most recently served as the Assistant Director of Basketball Operations at Troy University in the Sun Belt Conference. Last season, the Trojans finished with a 23-11 record and earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament after winning the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.

The Trojans also won the Sun Belt regular season title, and McKinney helped coach Tayton Conerway, who was named the conference Player of the Year.

His collegiate coaching career began at his alma mater, Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. McKinney was the assistant coach for the Rams for the 2022-23 season before becoming the head coach at Carrollwood Day School in Tampa, Florida.

As a player during the 2021-22 season, McKinney helped lead Cornell to a Midwest Conference championship and a berth in the Division III NCAA Tournament. The following season, the Rams advanced to the MWC Championship game and concluded the season with a 15-12 record.

McKinney joins Conarroe and assistant coach Derrick Rogers, who coached at Division 1 Cal Baptist and played in the West Coast Conference at the University of Portland; all three coaches at CC have experience at the Division 1 level.
