Jake Ross joins the Tigers as the Associate Director of Athletic Communications and Social Media ahead of the 2026-27 season. Ross, who makes his way to Colorado College after spending the last three collegiate seasons at UCCS, brings experience that spans all three divisions of NCAA competition; and also includes time at the professional level with the Rocky Mountain Vibes, and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC here in town.
Â
In his time with the Mountain Lions, Ross was the primary contact for the women’s soccer, men’s basketball, and baseball programs at UCCS. On campus for seven years, Ross began as an undergraduate student assistant with the athletic department, where he began his role serving as one of the Mountain Lions primary voices, both announcing games in stadium, and commentating events for RMAC network coverage. After joining the department full-time, Ross hosted the Mountain Lion Spotlight series, which showcased student athlete interviews on the department’s social platforms, as well as curated original content and highlight packages for all 14 programs on campus in addition to his sports information duties.
Â
During his undergraduate career, Ross also had stints with the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, Rocky Mountain Vibes, FOX Sports CFB, and PAC 12 Network. In his position at Switchbacks FC, Ross helped with generating content for the team through the creation of graphics and social media posts, assisted with writing press releases and articles for the club's website and newsletters, and updated weekly game notes for the team that were submitted to the league. He also served as the point of contact for external media and physical assets.Â
Post-grad, Ross has also added time with the Switchbacks FC filling in as the public address announcer for select USL games and Weidner Field events, including the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Soccer Final Four. Other organizations that Ross' voice has represented is Colorado College hockey, women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, and volleyball; Air Force Athletics where he has announced hockey, women's volleyball and women's basketball games for the Falcons; and Rocky Mountain Vibes Baseball. In his one season with the Rocky Mountain Vibes, Ross was the team's primary public address announcer and had the opportunity to periodically fill in as the club's middle innings broadcaster for several games during the 2022 season.
Ross also received experience on the broadcast production side with FOX Sports CFB and the PAC 12 Network, where he served as a utility for both networks, gained experience operating mobile cameras, and assisted with the setup and breakdown of equipment for nationally televised broadcasts.
Â
A graduate of UCCS in December of 2022, Ross earned his bachelor’s degree in sports communications, and was named the Outstanding Graduate of his department.
