A member of the Colorado College faculty since 2015, associate professor of molecular biology Olivia Hatton will begin her third year serving as one of two NCAA Faculty Athletics Representatives in 2024-25. She has also served as the academic advisor for CC’s NCAA Division I women’s soccer team since 2019.

Hatton’s academic interest include immunology, virology, microbiology, and cancer biology. After leaving her hometown of Honolulu, Hawaii, Hatton graduated in 2005 from DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind., with a bachelor of arts in biochemistry.

Hatton then earned a PhD in immunology from Stanford University in 2011, where she was awarded the McDevitt Prize for her outstanding dissertation research and academic performance.

Before arriving at CC, Hatton honed her teaching skills through the National Institute of Health’s (NIH) Institutional Research and Academic Career Development Awards (IRACDA) joint program at Stanford University and San José State University.

Hatton’s home is filled with two cats and more plants than she wishes to admit.
