Liz Doran

Head coach Liz Doran has enjoyed considerable and consistent success during her seven-year tenure at Colorado College entering the 2015-16 season, both on the court and with her team’s success in the classroom.

Since becoming head coach in June 2008, she has coached six different players garnering nine all-conference honors, one All-District academic honoree and 46 SCAC Academic Honor Roll student-athletes.

In her first campaign, she led the Tigers to a 16-9 mark behind the play of 2009 Josten’s Trophy Winner and All-American Melanie Auguste, whose jersey number was also retired.

The inexperienced 2009-10 squad recorded a 12-13 record as sophomore Becky Luetjen earned second-team all-conference accolades.

Luetjen was named to the SCAC first team during an 11-15 (8-8 SCAC West) campaign during the 2010-11 season. The Tigers went 14-12 (10-6 SCAC West) during the 2011-12 season. Luetjen repeated as a first team honoree. Jordy Stephenson garnered honorable mention. Luetjen also made the All-West Region third team for the second year in a row.

Last year, Courtney Tyus became the first Colorado College player to earn all-conference honors three times by landing a spot on the second team.

This year, Doran hopes to replicate that success with the addition of eight newcomers, including a seven-player freshman class.

Doran came to CC from Oglethorpe University where she served as an assistant coach for five years. Doran helped guide the Stormy Petrels to a school-record 27-7 mark and an appearance in the Division III Final Four during the 2007-08 season.

Doran was also an integral part of the Oglethorpe athletics department. She served as Senior Woman Administrator, Staff Advisor to the Student Athlete Advisor Committee (SAAC) and Assistant Athletic Director for Administration.

Doran graduated cum laude from Oglethorpe University and earned her masters in Sports Administration from Georgia State.

Doran and her husband, Jon, live in Colorado Springs.
