Sophomore forward
Tiffany Brown, whose two unassisted goals last Sunday helped Colorado College complete a weekend sweep of league opponents UAB and Memphis, has been named Conference USA co-Offensive Player of the Week.
Brown and her teammates now own a nine-game undefeated streak (8-0-1) at home, dating back to October 2007, and will try to improve on this season's 6-0-1 mark at Stewart Field with key C-USA matches against Southern Miss on Friday and UCF (Central Florida) on Sunday. After this week's homecoming games, CC plays four its final five regular-season outings on the road.
The Tigers, currently ranked No. 25 nationally by
TopDrawerSoccer.com, are 9-3-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play. They are tied with Rice University in the C-USA standings, just one point behind league-leading East Carolina University.
Brown is the first Colorado College player to earn POW honors this season after recording the second two-goal game of her collegiate career. With 36 career points (15g,6a), including a team-leading 15 (6g,3a) this fall, she already ranks 29th on the program's all-time chart. She's also tied for 22nd with her 15 goals in just 32 outings as a Tiger.
Friday marks just the second-ever meeting between CC and Southern Miss. The Tigers won, 2-0, in Hattiesburg, Miss., last Oct. 19, in the only previous encounter. Colorado College is 2-1-1 in four all-time matches against UCF, after the teams battled to a scoreless tie in Orlando, Fla., last Oct. 21. The Knights are defending regular-season co-champions of Conference USA.
