No. 3-ranked Colorado College resumes a stretch of five consecutive games on the road this weekend when the Tigers take on the University of Alaska Anchorage in a two-game WCHA series on the Olympic-size ice sheet at Sullivan Arena.
Both games are scheduled to be telecast live throughout Southern Colorado starting at 7 p.m. MST.
The second-place Tigers, who trail top-ranked and WCHA-leading University of Minnesota by just two points in the league standings, are a modest 1-1-3 away from home this season but have swept UAA in their last three visits to Anchorage dating back to 2004-05. With Minnesota playing at the University of Denver this weekend, first place is within reach for CC.
The surprising Seawolves, meanwhile, already have matched last year's total of three conference victories and are within one of equaling their overall total of seven. They're 6-4-2 overall and 3-3-2 in WCHA play.
Friday's series opener marks the 60th all-time contest between the teams in a rivalry that started on Jan. 5, 1984. The Tigers own a 45-11-3 advantage in the previous 59 encounters, including a 15-8-3 mark at Sullivan Arena. Colorado College has defeated the Seawolves seven consecutive times overall since dropping a 5-4 overtime decision to them at the World Arena on Dec. 8, 2006.
Friday's series opener can be seen on News First Now (Comcast channel 9 in Colorado Springs and 247 in Pueblo).
Saturday's game will air on KXTU The CW 57 (Comcast channel 7 in Colorado Springs and Pueblo, as well as 4 in Trinidad; DirecTV, DISH and over-the-air on channel 57; Bresnan Cable channel 12 for Canon City, LaJunta and Walsenburg; Baja Broadband channel 15 on Fort Carson; and Peterson Broadband channel 7 on Peterson AFB)
