Uyenishi named MVP for 2007

Molly Uyenishi, who will enter her senior season as one of the most decorated Tigers in recent history, was honored as Colorado College's Most Valuable Player for  the 2007 campaign.

Uyenishi, a defender who earned honorable mention on TopDrawerSoccer.com's Women's College Team of the Season last fall, served as a team tri-captain and helped lead the Tigers to a 10-6-3 overall record. She also was named All-Central Region by National Soccer Coaches Association of America and SoccerBuzz.com in addition to being voted to the All-Conference USA First Team for the second consecutive year.

Uyenishi joined freshman defender Sydney Fetter, sophomore midfielder Ericka Baer, sophomore defender Sarah Wolff and senior forward Amara Wilson as award recipients at the team's annual banquet.

Fetter, who led CC with 1,766 minutes played, was named Rookie of the Year. Baer and Wolff were co-recipients of the Most Improved Player Award, while Wilson was presented with the Stephen J. Paul Award as the player who most exemplifies the spirit of Tiger Soccer. Wilson finished her career tied for 10th place on the program's all-time scoring chart with 52 career points, including 16 (5 goals, 6 assists) last fall. Her 20 career goals also ties her for 10th on the school's all-time list.
