One victory away from clinching a berth in the Conference USA playoffs for the fourth consecutive season, Colorado Colorado is hoping to focus on some loftier goals very soon.
The Tigers take aim at an upper-division finish in the league standings and try to improve their chances for an NCAA tournament bid this week, playing host to Rice University and the University of Houston in a pair of key C-USA matches at Stewart Field.
CC, 10-5-1 overall and tied for second place with a 6-2 record in conference play, takes on the Owls at 2 p.m. (MT) Friday before meeting Houston at noon Sunday.
Rice, 4-10-2 overall and 2-6 in league play, currently is in 11th place while UH, 4-9-2 overall and 2-4-2 in the conference, occupies the 10th spot. Both still have a shot at finishing as high as fifth, however, with the top six teams qualifying for the C-USA post-season tournament to be held Nov. 4-8 in Dallas.
Colorado College currently is No. 35 in the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), the computerized ranking system that ultimately determines which 64 teams are selected to particpate in the NCAA playoffs.
