Women's Soccer Finishes Regular Season in Las Vegas

The Colorado College Tigers wrap up the regular season with a match in Las Vegas at UNLV. The Tigers need just one point to secure the outright Mountain West Regular Season Championship.

PLAYING FOR MOUNTAIN WEST SUPREMACY
The Colorado College Women's Soccer team has already locked up the number one seed in the Mountain West tournament as they sit at 22 points on the season heading into the final match in Las Vegas. The Rainbow Wahine of Hawaii are the only team that can match the Tigers for a share of the regular season title, but CC holds the tiebreaker as they defeated Hawaii 2-0 in the first conference match of the season. If the Tigers can win or draw against the Rebels, CC will capture the Mountain West regular season outright for the first time in program history on Thursday evening in Sin City. The other three spots in the tournament come down to Hawaii, Air Force, New Mexico, and Wyoming who all play each other in their final matches of the season this week, with one team set to be the odd man out come Sunday.

LAST TIME OUT
Colorado College could not clinch the top seed on their own entering play last Sunday, as they needed a win, an Air Force loss, and a Hawaii loss or draw to guarantee themselves the top spot in the postseason bracket. With their match vs Grand Canyon and Air Force and Wyoming kicking off at the same time, CC looked to handle their business then wait to see results come in. The match at Stewart Field was a tight one on Sunday afternoon, as CC looked to cement postseason position, and Grand Canyon looked to keep their postseason hopes alive. The only goal in the match came quickly in the 13th minute, when CC had a attacker dumped down in the area, though it went uncalled in real time. The Tigers would send the officials to the monitor to take a second look, and confirm that it was indeed a foul. Awarded the penalty kick, the Tigers called upon Tyler Rose on her senior day to attempt the shot. Rose confidently struck it into the top left side of the net, giving CC the lead. Grand Canyon would not go quietly as they continued to pressure the Tigers back line with their season in jeopardy. Though GCU held the ball up field throughout the match, they only mustered six shots (three per half) with only two landing on frame, as senior goalkeeper Regan Wallace turned in the clean sheet and delivered three points to the Tigers.

A LOOK AT THE FALCONS
Kaitlin Taylor leads the UNLV attack netting seven goals and providing another three assists for a 17-point total. Kamri Yergensen and Ana de Los Santos are right behind her with five goals, and four goals on the season, respectively. Look for Tori Martinez to get the plays started for UNLV, as she leads the team in helpers at four assists on the season, but does not have a goal through eight appearances this fall. Riley Hodson is the expected starter in the frame for UNLV, as she has played and started in 13 matches for the Rebels this season. She has a 1.94 Goals Against Average with 51 saves. In her last match, she helped hand Hawaii their second conference loss making six saves, allowing just one goal in a 2-1 win on the islands.

SERIES HISTORY
The Tigers face the Rebels for the 12th time on Thursday night, with this being the 6th match in Sin City. UNLV holds a 6-4-1 record over CC.
