The Colorado College Tigers battle for the City for Champions Cup with Air Force Wednesday evening at Weidner Field in downtown Colorado Springs. The Tigers currently hold the cup having won 2-1 in 2024, and drawn 1-1 last fall.

WIN AND YOU'RE IN
The Colorado College Women's Soccer team is one of the first two teams that can say it. The Tigers stand at a Mountain West leading 19 points, and with a win over Air Force will be clear of all teams except for Hawaii. The Rainbow Wahine are the only other team with a tournament berth within reach on Wednesday, as they can also clinch a spot in the postseason with a win in their match against UNLV on O'ahu. CC still has some work to do with Hawai'i just one point behind them in the standings when it comes to locking up the conference regular season championship. However, Hawaii still has New Mexico (3rd place) and Wyoming (5th place) remaining on their schedule, where the Tigers have Grand Canyon (6th place) and UNLV (8th place) ahead. Both teams in the hunt for first place will finish the season on the road, with Hawaii being at Wyoming in Laramie, as the Tigers will head to Sin City to take on UNLV in their final game.
LAST TIME OUT
Colorado College had a heavyweight match up on their hands in their last match as the Tigers welcomed the Wyoming Cowgirls to Stewart Field on Saturday night. The sides both had opportunities early and often in the first half of play, with action making it's way up and down the pitch with impressive pace. The Tigers would strike first on an absolutely dazzling free kick from
Ella Ashouri who picked the top right corner and gave CC the first lead in the 23rd minute. Twelve minutes later, the Tigers would strike again this time from the penalty dot. CC was deep in the Cowgirl end as freshman forward
Chloe Bunton made her way into the top corner of the area with a nice step over move. The stunt paid off as her defender stepped into her path in an attempt to get to the ball, but instead dumped Bunton down to the turf in the very top of the 18.
Bella Stewart would do the honors on the PK for CC, convincingly depositing it into the left side of the box as CC doubled their lead in the 35th minute. The Cowgirls would not go down quietly as they cranked up the intensity the rest of the match, and especially after the intermission, testing the Tiger defense.
Sophia Mayne and
Lily Smith led the defensive stand, as the Tigers did give up a goal in the 89th, but held strong to earn the 2-1 victory on home turf.
A LOOK AT THE FALCONS
Annika Jost leads the Falcons as she owns seven goals and seven assists on the year having played and started all 15 matches for USAFA. Kendall Rippley and Chase Borntreger are tied for second in goals on the team, each with five strikes, as Addie Doyle is the other facilitator on the squad with five assists. Sydney Nelms is the expected starter in the net for the Falcons as she has started all 13 of her appearances on the season, and is coming off a 3-0 clean sheet victory against San Jose State. Nelms enters the City for Champions Cup with 14 goals allowed and a 1.12 goals against average, having saved 54 opportunities with a .794 save percentage. Laura Busby is the bench boss for the Falcons as she is in her fifth season as the leader of the Air Force Women's Soccer program. Busby is 36-37-15 at the helm at the Academy.
SERIES HISTORY
The Tigers face the Falcons for the 13th time in program history on Wednesday. CC has controlled the all time series with a 9-1-2 record over Air Force.
