The Colorado College Tigers wrap up a two match road trip in El Paso as they take on the UTEP Miners Thursday night. The Tigers hold first place in the Mountain West, starting the conference schedule 4-0-1 with wins over Hawaii, UC Davis, New Mexico at home, also with a road draw at Nevada and a road win at San Jose State.
LAST TIME OUT
Colorado College got off to the best start to a game this season vs the Spartans of San Jose State on Sunday, winning a road match for the first time this season. CC scored in just the fourth minute of play after earning an early corner kick.
Taylor Mentink did the honors in front, heading home a beautiful set piece from
Charlotte Strabel who took the corner for the Tigers first strike of the game. Just minutes later, it was a broken play that got the Tigers their second of the first ten minutes.
Tyler Rose found a way into the area and let a shot go that rang off the inside of the right post, the rebound would trickle out to
Kendall Memoly who would tap it home for her first goal of the season. After the two quick strikes, the Tigers were able to be more conservative. CC didn't take many risks the rest of the way, as they tried to make it easy on their defense as
Regan Wallace provided six saves in the 2-0 shutout. Wallace was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week after a perfect week. She shutout both the Spartans and the University of New Mexico Lobos making six saves in each game. The Tigers, winners of two straight and four of their last five, have scored twice in all five of their last five matches.
