Riding a five-game winning streak and tied for first place in the WCHA standings after last week's non-conference sweep of Robert Morris University, Colorado College has climbed a couple more notches in the national rankings.

The Tigers, picked by the league's head coaches to barely avoid finishing in the cellar this season, have reached No. 5 in both polls released on Monday by USCHO.com/CBS College Sports and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine.

CC, now 9-2-1 overall, tries to improve on its 6-1-1 WCHA record this weekend in a two-game series at the World Arena against the University of Alaska Anchorage.

It's the Seawolves' first visit to Colorado Springs, where they've won just twice in 32 previous appearances, since the 2007-08 season. Unranked UAA, currently eighth in the WCHA with a 3-7 mark in league play, is 5-9 overall.

Friday's series opener marks the 62nd all-time meeting between the teams in a rivalry that started on Jan. 5, 1984. Colorado College, which owns a 46-12-3 edge in the previous 61, is 30-2 against the Seawolves in Colorado Springs including a 19-1 advantage at the CSWA. The teams split their only two encounters last season, in Anchorage.
