Angela Dang struck for three goals and assisted on three more on Friday, fueling Colorado College to an 11-2 victory over Penn State-Behrend in CC's opening game at the Midwest Invitational in Kenosha, Wis.
The Tigers dropped a pair of decisions later in the day, however, falling 11-4 to Grove City College and 17-3 to tournament host Carthage College. They play three more matches on Saturday against Washington & Jefferson College, Wheaton College and Macalester College in preparation for the Midwest Regional Championships two weeks from now at Macalester.
Goaltender
Lindsay Morrison made seven saves in Friday's initial contest, as CC snapped a three-game losing skid.
Liz Weber also scored three times, while
Joycie Hunter collected a goal and added four assists. Weber and
Malia Vitousek had three steals apiece.
Morrison then stopped 22 of 33 shots in the loss to Grove City, with Vitousek and Weber each scoring twice and contributing a pair of steals. Vitousek also set up one of Weber's tallies. The Tigers, now 4-6 for the season, trailed only 1-0 after the first quarter but were outscored by a 6-1 margin in the second to fall behind 7-1 at halftime.
